Olsen Sisters are Busier than Ever.

the Olsen's at their "the Row" show- Feb. 2010

“Full House”, “It Takes Two”, “Two of a Kind”, and “New York Minute” are only some of the works of the famous celebrity sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The sisters have moved on from being on the big screen and on television sets to being involved in a completely different industry- the fashion industry. Although the girls have always been interested in fashion, they are finally pursuing that dream. They created the label “The Row” and fashion line “Elizabeth and James.”
February 16th, 2010 was the first time the Olsen’s stepped out on the runway following their “the Row” Fall 2010 collection at New York Fashion Week. The sisters told popsugar.com that they wanted “something low-key and straight to the point” as their inspiration and theme for their designs. They did just that! The collection was filled with black and white garments that were very simple and comfortable. They had only 19 simple looks and only few photographers in attendance for their show. They have been working on their collections ever since in their New York City showroom, and have made their garments available online at TheRow.com.
“Elizabeth and James” is a fashion line created by the 24-year-old twins, which is actually said to be named after their siblings. According to sawfnews.com, the concept for their designs was a boy-girl relationship and to tell a story through the clothing. The collection is found at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and more. The twins even set up a “pop up shop” during New York City’s Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th, 2010 in the West Village. The shop was filled with a 1920’s “traveling circus” theme, which was ongoing from the inspiration for the E&J Fall 2010 collection.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have always been an inspiration of mine since I was a little young girl.  It’s great that they are continuing their success in the fashion industry, since I am a fashion student myself. It just gives me one more way to look up to these phenomenal ladies. From 1-year-old actresses to 24-year-old designers, keep up the good work, Olsens!

Lauren Conrad- not just a TV star

Today at Barnes & Noble on 86th and Lex was the kickoff for Lauren Conrad's book tour. 12 locations will be hosting her book tour for her newest novel Sugar and Spice and another addition to her collection, Lauren Conrad Style. She also has two more novels that are out- L.A. Candy and Sweet Little Lies. I found out about the book tour from her Twitter a few weeks back, and was more than happy to go. The line started forming as early as 11am when she wasn't due for arrival until 4:30pm.

Lauren was the star of "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" on MTV and now has her own fabulous clothing lines, one which is sold in stores at Kohl's. On "The Hills" she was known as the sweet girl, and she truly lives up to her name, even off camera. I have come across many celebrities and she is by far the most loving and truly cares about her fans. She made that apparent by the little chit chat we had tonight. I wish I could have spent more time with her or got a picture with her, but I wish her the best! If anyone reading this gets the chance, go and see her during one of her stops. Go to LaurenConrad.com for more info :)

"Beauty in the Breakdown" photoshoot

For my school's styling club, I had to do a photoshoot to put in my portfolio! I wanted to base the theme off of Mencius' theory "human nature is good." In his essay, he mentions how a mountain, Ox Mountain, was once beautiful, but all the trees were torn down. Everybody perceived that since the trees are gone, then the beauty must be gone. I chose the theme "Beauty in the Breakdown" to showcase how beautiful places really have been at one point by contrasting with my outfits. I tried showing that beauty truly is in its nature. The photos aren't all black and white now, but I will edit them later to get my point even more across. If you have any editing suggestions, let me know!

It was such a blast, and I loved being the model. My best friend Kathryn and I were partners for this project, and the photography credit goes to another classmate, Veronica Gonzalez. I cannot wait to showcase my portfolio at an event the club will be putting together! Here are some of the shots.

I hope you liked them. :)

Taking a break from Fashion..

God took the lives of two Medina boys this weekend, on separate occasions. I've gone to high school all throughout the four years with them, and they were both from my graduating class.

Jake Brich was the victim of a car accident at 4 am on Saturday, October 2nd. I only "hung out" with him once but saw him around constantly. I'll never forget that time dancing in my best friend Dana's car as we went to Denny's at 2 am. He was constantly making people laugh.

Thomas McGurk passed away last night due to a car accident as well in Kentucky, where he went to college. A couple summers ago he gave me his number but it was really the police department. I freakkeddd when I called. (ahh, what a prankster.) Many IM's as well. Then junior year in Language Arts we took pictures while we were supposed to be reading. Such an amazing class, and such an amazing person.

only memories.

I woke up to two text messages and a missed call this morning all to report this unbelievable news. This proves that life really is too short, and to remember not to make little mistakes that could possibly cost your life. My dear friend Jessica Schaffer lost her life in a car accident in December 2008 as well, and I have never been able to forget it. These boys will never be forgotten. and if anyone from the class of 2010 is reading this right now, please shoot me a text so I can tell you everything will be okay. The memories live on, boys. You'll forever be missed.
