Revlon: The Truth Uncovered!

All of you have probably seen the commercials for Revlon's new Top Speed polishes featuring Jessica Alba, boasting that you can change your nail color every day because they dry so quickly. Well, I always have my doubts so I had to test it out. Here I have it in the color Golden:

I first put a base coat on my nails as I usually do, then I applied a coat of this so called "top speed" polish. I found that this was FAR from top speed. It was pretty tacky for quite a while and I was very disappointed. It didn't dry any faster than typical OPI polishes (some OPIs might even dry faster). Even though I was disappointed I decided to put on a second coat. Oddly enough the second coat dried pretty fast and I felt better about the polish. I'm not sure why the first coat took so long to dry, it might have been my base coat so I'm going to suggest no base coat for these polishes.

But I'm not really a fan of gold on my skin tone, so I had to take it up a notch.

I used the zebra print from the M57 Konad plate and the black Konad stamping polish. I really liked the way it came out and it even matches a blanket I have!

Here is the actual bottle:

When looking at the bottle, it looks gold and shimmery and I thought that it would have a glossy shimmery finish, but I was pleasantly surprised when the finish turned out to be really metallic. I really LOVE the metallic finish! It isn't glossy or shimmery at all and in the pictures I don't have a top coat, but if you want a glossy finish, a top coat would probably do it. Also, I'd say that the color is more in between gold and bronze, but it's nice either way.

Overall, I'd say that this is a relatively good polish. I'm not sure if product actually lives up to the "top speed" name though. The formula is good, it's very smooth and easy to apply. I'll have to test it out without the base coat to see if that helps the drying time. But for quick drying polishes, I think Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri polishes are faster. 

Also, I just wanted to comment on where you can purchase these. I was in CVS and I noticed these and the new scented Revlons. When I checked the price it was $6.75! Kind of ridiculous if you ask me, so I passed on them. A few days later I was a Wegmans (grocery store) and decided, just out of curiosity, to see if they had them. And they did! and the prices were soooooo much cheaper. They had the Top Speed polishes for $4.99 with a coupon for $1.00 off and the scented ones for $2.99 (I believe, it might have been $3.99)! So I really suggest you check around for these, it's definitely not worth buying them at CVS. I did buy one of the scented ones and I'll probably post that one next.

OPI Nevermore!

Finally, the last of the Go Goth minis!

So this is a glittery shimmery blue purple color. It changes in the light, I put it on when it was dark so it looked purple instead of blue. I'm assuming when it is light out, it will look more blue and here you can kind of see it because of the camera flash. I've also heard that this color is actually OPI Ink and was just put into a mini bottle and remarketed for the halloween collection. 

Here, I have 3 coats of the color and a top coat. I've found that all these (besides Obscurity) need 3 coats and a top coat. They are super shimmery when they are wet but as they dry the definitely dull, so a top coat really does wonders for these colors so I suggest it.

Overall, I thought the collection was excellent. It was true to the name and had some great colors, though I wish the bottles were a bit bigger. If anyone wants to buy it, they are cheaper on Amazon.com than in stores. I hope you all enjoyed the collection as much as I did!

OPI Unripened!

I really really liked this color, but it was harder to capture than I thought it would be.

So here, you can see that is has this dark greenish tint, which it from the glitter in the polish. The glitter is pretty hard to see. In person, you can see it up close and it changes from green to blue to purple, depending on the light.

Here, you can see that from far away it just looks black. It is the same in person, you can really only see the glitter if you look really close. Its actually really pretty up close and I wish it was more visible on camera. 

You can kind of see the purple in this picture.

Other than my camera issues, or whatever it was, this color was really nice. In the pictures I have a base coat and 3 coats of polish AND a top coat. I took these pictures after 4 days or so and even with 5 coats of polish on, it hadn't started to chip. The formula, like the rest, was really good and it covered really well. Actually, when the polish is wet the glitter is much more prominent. But what can you do, right? Overall, the whole Go Goth collection is great and I'll be putting the last color up soon!

e.l.f cosmetics part 2!!!!

Lips

Studio Lip Stain-

So these are suppose to be a long- lasting lip color but they are not. I am very disappointed, they are transparent when applied. Also they are not long lasting. But hey for the price I can't complain!!!!!  The colors are pretty and very close to what they look like in the bottle, but you do have to apply it a few times to achieve the color. There are many other expensive lip stains that do not give the results they claim.

Conditioning Lip Balm- 

Price- $3 (Paid $1.50)

So let me first say I was impressed with the size of these, they bring a very generous amount (especially for $1.50). I really like these because they feel nice on the lips and have a nice color. However, I am disappointed with Nice & Natural because it gives my lips no color just some shine. I was expecting a nude color but got nothing, In the photo it looks darker than what it is in person. Maybe it just doesn't give my lips color might work on someone with a darker lip. ( I'll try and find out). But I wish it did work because I really like the color. But I can just use it as a gloss. I would definitely recommend these. 

Eyes

Endless Eyes Pro Eyeshadows Palette (100 colors)

Price-$3 (Paid $1.50)

Before receiving this I was impressed, 100 eyeshadows for $5 bucks, like seriously!!! Even at regular price is super cheap. You can't even get one eyeshadow from other make-up brands. I used it for the first time yesterday and the pigment was great, I will do a more detailed review as I use it and put up swatches. But I think everyone should get one of these. 

Face

Blush-

                               Mellow Mauve- I haven't used it yet. I will put up a review when I do.

Gotta Glow- Love it!!! Awesome highlighter with gold in it.

Where is the light??

I was going to put up the Unripened post today, but the sunlight is just not on my side today. It is super cloudy and I need some natural light to capture the glitter in the polish. Hopefully the sun comes out and I'll try to get some good shots. Either way, there will be a new post up later, so check back!!

e.l.f. Cosmetics (Eyes Lips Face)

So I had mentioned before I had ordered a few things from e.l.f. cosmetics. Let me just say I am very impressed with my order. Of course I am also very happy because I used the 50% off code (studio collection)!! Can't get any better than that. The order came super quick and very neatly packaged. I was very surprised and impressed because it came packaged MUCH better than higher makeup brands.

All the five faces brushed came in a plastic case which is great to keep the brushes shape and from getting messed up . I was surprised that they brought this because none of my expensive brushes brought any of this.

Eye Brushes

Small Smudge Brush-

Used to blend or smudge eyeliner or to blend shadow for a smokey eye. 

Contour Brush- 

Price: $3 (Paid $1.50)

Used to blend shadow, add definition and get a more concentrated color. 

Eyeshadow "C" Brush-

Price: $3 (Paid $1.50)

Used apply eyeshadow for a  more opaque color. 

Small Angled Brush- 

Price: $3 (Paid $1.50)

Used for eyeliner, precise lines, or filling in eyebrows. 

Small Precision Brush- 

Price: $3 (Paid $1.50)

Used to create thin lines, precise coverage, concealer, or lip color. 

I have yet to use this brushes so I will be doing reviews on each brush as I use them. So far, I have to say I am very impressed because they are very soft and seem to be of good quality. They are also vegan!!!
