Bigger, Brighter, Brown Eyes!!

Tips to brighten brown eyes!! With brown eyes you get to play around with more colors without it standing out in a bad way.

Best colors for brown eyes:

• Champagne, peach or light pink- This will brighten and open the entire eye.
• A shimmery neutral beige all over the lid and then a darker shade on the crease, works great!
• Gold
• Shades of purples and violet
• Deep shades of blue 
• Grays
• Greens- best for hazel eyes 
• stick to smokey greens, olive, forest green

FOR ALL EYES!! For the inner corner always use a shadow with shimmer, this will attract light and brighten your eyes.  This color should always be lighter!!! 

           (navy blue eye shadow with a medium grey on the inner corner)

(purple smokey eye- lighter purple on lid, a violet or plum on the crease)

(metallic grey on lid, a dark charcoal on the crease)

Kim Kardashian is one of my favorites when it comes down to her makeup. She does a great job at making her brown eyes pop. She wears a lot of violets and dark purples for a smokey look. She also uses dark grays. Of course, we can't forget her super long lashes!! Her lashes make her eyes appear bigger and brighter.

The Base Coat/ Top Coat Dilemma

Two of the most confusing things about nail care are top coats and base coats. So I thought I would shed some light on the subject.

Base coats are usually used to strengthen nails and protect them from the actual polish.

This is the base coat that I use. It's Rejuvacote by Duri and its awesome! It strengthens nails and helps them grow. It dries very quickly and is just overall great. It really works wonders if you have brittle nails or need to repair your nails after having tips or gels. I swear by it. It can also be used as a top coat.

Top coats are used to help the finished manicure set, along with protecting it from dulling or chipping

 This is the god-given Seche Vite. It's a fast drying top coat, and when I say fast I mean FAST! (Seche Vite is french for "dry quickly") It literally take about 7 seconds to dry. This stuff is a terrific top coat and I suggest it to everyone. And I have found that is does help prevent chipping.

This is Sally Hansen's Diamond Strength No Chip top coat. It says that it prevents chipping, and I have seen it go both ways. Sometimes it did prevent chipping, while other times not so much. It also doesn't dry as fast as some others, which it probably because it's actually supposed to be a "no chip nail color". Obviously, it's clear so there is no color. That kind of baffles me. But I guess it has the same drying time as regular polishes because its made to be a nail color (without the color).

There are also some really good OPI top coats. I haven't tried any of them, but I've heard good things. They are called Nail Envy and they have a special formula for every time of nails. From brittle to thin to sensitive along with one for regular maintenance, original and a matte top coat. (I'll probably be trying the matte!) They can also be used as base coats.

RIP Prof Scheinman

I would like to dedicate all of today's posts to the late Marc N. Scheinman, Professor of Marketing from Pace University. He was a good man with a big personality and he will be dearly missed. Our condolences go out to his family and we wish them all the best when dealing with this tremendous loss. May he rest in peace.

Making blue eyes POP!!!!

There are certain colors we can use to make our eye color pop. Today, I will recommend colors for blue eyes. 

Pink or peach colored eye shadow will complement blue eyes. You should use a pink or peach all over the lid and add a darker color to the crease.

 You can also use:

• Purples like violets and lilac
• Greys- metallic grey and silver
• Browns- soft browns, taupe (not too dark)

For smokey eyes try camel, browns, charcoal or copper. 

To brighten up your eyes and make them appear bigger, apply white eyeliner on your inner rims (in the photo below she has white eyeliner on her bottom rim and then black eyeliner). Black eyeliner accentuates and complements blue eyes!!! 

Don't forget to add the mascara. On blue eyes even a little bit of mascara can go a long way!!!

More Revlon Revealed!

As I said in the last post, I also picked up one of Revlon's new scented polishes. I had a too long debate with my younger sister deciding what color to get. She wanted a red that smelled like cherry, but I already have a red polish and didn't feel like wasting $3, so I convinced her into getting the blueberry scented one called Not So Blueberry (yeah the names were seriously lacking).

So this is the bottle, and like the name, it's also seriously lacking. It was just a fail, there's literally nothing on it. No logo or anything it just says "scented parfume" on the front and I was pretty disappointed with that. Anyway, here the color looks more blue, in real life its more of a lavender. It's kind of like a blue/lavender shimmery duochrome. It looks pretty interesting in the bottle. 

These pictures are pretty blurry and I apologize. As you can see n some pictures it looks blue while in other it does look lavender, I was worried that it would show up. You can't quite see the shimmer on pictures, but its there in person. I think its a pretty decent shade nothing super special though. Now, it states that the polish is scented when dry, but let me tell you, its definitely scented when wet too. The second I opened the bottle I could smell the artificial blueberry. It wasn't bad tho so no complaints on the scent. It also lasted a really long time, I was expecting for the smell to wear off within a few hours, but it stayed for DAYS. that was a pleasant surprise. 

I wasn't super happy with the formula though. It was really sheer. These pictures have 3 coats of polish and a top coat, but I probably could have gone with 4 or 5 coats. I don't think the color was pigmented enough. I'll have to try some other colors to see if thats the case with all of them. Application was average but the drying time was longer than I expected, for 2 thin coats it took a really long time to dry.

Overall, I think its a really interesting idea. It's kind of fun and I'm willing to try out some of the other colors. I'm pretty interested in the other scents.

Also, excuse the toys in the background, obviously my sister is a good amount younger than me lol.
