Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Effect Faux Clis! Swatches and Review!

A few weeks ago I made an order from Sephora and had some reward points so I chose the YSL Mascara Volume Effect Faux Cils.

They claim:
Yves Saint Laurent MASCARA VOLUME EFFET FAUX CILS Luxurious Mascara achieves an intense, dramatic lash look in a single stroke, for lashes that stop traffic with the blink of an eye. Its secret is the Triple-Film Complex: a film-coating for intensity, a conditioning film for curve, and a fixing film for long-lasting effectiveness.

The mascara is $30, so it is a bit pricey. First off, this mascara is very black and highly pigmented. It also lengthens each lash while adding volume. Even when you apply a few coats it doesn't clump up or make the lashes stiff. It does a good job at defining every lash instead of clumping them together. I also noticed that it holds the curl well when you curl your lashes.

The formula is scented which at first I was impressed by but after a while it starts getting really annoying. I don't want to spend the whole day smelling my mascara! Also for me the formula is a bit too watery which I don't really like. I like my lashes to look full and I don't think this mascara does it. This mascara is marketed as being shocking and dramatic however, I am not impressed. I don't hate it, I'm just dissapointed, I expected more drama. In the photos I don't have any eyeliner on and the photos are up close they look more dramatic then they really are. With eyeliner they just look regular.

I get more results from the L'oreal mascara that's only about 8 bucks. And as for pricier mascaras, I love the Make Up For Ever mascara. So, I wouldn't buy the YSL mascara because I'm not impressed with the results. I will give it a few more tries and see if I change my mind because that has happened to me before especially with some mascaras.

Fyrinnae Loose Eyeshadow Swatches and Review!!

After my Sugarpill purchase, I went a little indie crazy and it was so worth it. I've been hearing about Pixie Epoxy for a while now but never really knew what brand made it, but after buying loose shadows I knew I needed it. A little Googling led me to Fyrinnae and the rest was history. I ended up ordering Pixie Epoxy along with 9 sample sized loose eyeshadows. WARNING: VERY PICTURE HEAY!

So first, this is what my entire order was packed in (after I took it out of the envelope). Zebra!! Who doesn't like Zebra?! Love that.

Woohoo! Pixie Epoxy on the side there :)
Left column top to bottom:
Immortality
Arcane Magics Steampunk
Dinosaur Plushie
Mephisto
Sacred

Right column top to bottom:
Tyr (free sample)
Arcane Magics Alchemist's Curse
Arcane Magics Raven's Prophecy
Monarch Butterfly
Dorian Grey

Dinosaur Plushie
Monarch Butterfly
Mephisto

Right column top to bottom:
Tyr (free sample)
Arcane Magics Alchemist's Curse
Arcane Magics Raven's Prophecy
Dorian Grey

(all swatches over Pixie Epoxy)

Top row:
Arcane Magic: Alchemist's Curse- blackened base with purple glitter
Dorian Grey- blackened base with blue glitter
Arcane Magic: Steampunk-  antiqued deep copper on black, with a touch of gold sparkle and hues of pink
Mephisto-  deep royal blue/purple with a vibrant metallic red sheen

Middle row:
Sacred- pale metallic taupe
Arcane Magic: Raven's Prophecy- black base with blue, lime and purple glitter
Immortality- black base with multi color glitter
Monarch Butterfly- Deep black with hues of glowing reddish copper shimmer

Bottom row:
Dinosaur Plushie- bright light silver with multi color glitter
Tyr- metallic olive green with flashes of gold

So yeah, I took a million picture, I just couldn't stop lol. I love all of these and left them on my hand for a long while just so I could look at them. They all go on very smoothly and don't feel gritty and they are so   pigmented! Each of my swatches are over Pixie Epoxy and are one swipe of each color. I love every single color!

The ones I got were all sample sizes, so the regular ones were 1/3 tsp for $2 and the Arcane Magic eyeshadows are 1/4 tsp for $2. The free sample I got was Tyr which has less product but still a really good amount (I did contemplate getting it and I'm so glad I got it as a free sample because is beautiful). These are packed by weight not volume so some will look m ore full than others, but they is just because some eyeshadows settle more than others.

The Pixie Epoxy is amazing in itself. It really brings out the color and glitter in the shadows and has amazing staying power. You can get a sample of it which is 1.5 ml for $1.50 or a full size 10ml  for $7.

So, you can only buy Fyrinnae products from their website, but they are closed until Jan 14th or 16th so no ordering for now. I just want to make a note of the turn around time: when you go on the website (when its back up) it will have an estimate of time for creating and shipping for you order. When I ordered, the turn around time was 24-48 days or something like that. Yes, scary, but let me tell you that it not nearly that long. I ordered on Dec 24th (yeahhh) and I received it on Dec 31st! So don't get too scared of the crazy number of days that they put up.

elf studio bronzers- Updated review

So a while ago I did some swatches on the 3  elf bronzers, now here are my thoughts after using them:

Warm Bronzer
 Cool Bronzer
Golden Bronzer

First off, what I really like about these is that you can choose which of the 4 shades you want to use from each bronzer. This allows you have control on the color. However, the golden and the warm bronzers have shimmer in them, almost a frosty finish. If you use bronzers to contour your face then you shouldn't use ones with shimmer. The shimmer is only for your cheeks, unless you want to walk around with shimmer all over your face.
The shimmer attracts light therefore, it serves more as a highlight not contour or bronzer. It also gives your skin a natural glow. Therefore, for me personally they will not work as bronzers because of the shimmer , however I will use them on my cheeks. I also use the lighter colors as highlight above my cheeks.
However, the cool bronzer is matte, which is great. The four shades blend very nicely together to create a nice color. You can use is as a blush by using the pinker shades or as contour. If you have fair skin, this might me a little too dark for you, I even have to be a bit careful with it. Just remember it is easier to build the color, so don't put alot at once.

Even though two of them have shimmer, I still am happy I bought them. They are really good for the price ($3), and I only paid $1.50 since elf had 50% off when I bought them.

Guest Post! Hair and Beauty Emergenies - Quick Fixes For The Party Season

We have another guest post for you guys today. Enjoy!

Hair and Beauty Emergenies - Quick Fixes For The Party Season

Thanks to busy schedules, taking care of looks may be the last thing that you do. But this season is all about Christmas parties and New Year bashes. If like the other times during the year, you only start to take notice of your appearance just before stepping out of the house for a party, then you surely need some quick fixes. Here’s a list of quick fixes for this year’s party season.

Smell Good: Just looking good is not enough. You also have to ensure that you smell good before heading for a party. Chances are that many times you would have forgotten to re-stock your supply of deodorants and as a result at the last moment are compelled to go to a party without wearing it. Remember that this may just negate your chances of meeting your Prince Charming at the party. So the quick fix is to rub a slice of lemon on your armpits or apply a paste of soda-bi carbonate. Your skin will soak up the acid present in the lemon slices and ensure that you sweat less and your sweat does not have an odor.

Baggy Eyes: Late night parties coupled with heavy drinking usually results in puffy and baggy eyes. No matter how much you may try, foundation and concealer will not be able to camouflage the puffiness under your eyes. The best way to counter attack baggy eyes is to place a cold and used tea bag on your eyelids and relax. This will help you to reduce the puffiness to quite an extent. After that, you can use a concealer and foundation to get rid of the remaining puffiness. Also, be sure to use a good wrinkle cream regularly for a few days in advance to have an impeccable skin.

Greasy hair: A bad hair day can simply crucify your partying plans. A quick fix for getting rid of greasy and limp hair and bringing some life into it is to sprinkle baby powder on the greasy hair shafts and using a dry towel after that. The powder soaks up the extra grease and oil on the hair. Using the towel after that ensures that the powder falls off your hair giving it a renewed life.

Split Ends – If your hair is damaged and you did not have time to visit a salon, then do not fret. Use this quick fix for split ends for beautiful hair tips. Apply olive oil on the split hair shafts so that the split ends are not visible.

The party fixes for the last moment work wonders especially with your busy schedule. But why wait till you have a party to try them out. Use them every day of your life and save some time.

Time for change- Beauty Resolutions for 2012

Take all your makeup off before going to sleep.
I know this is pretty obvious but sometimes we tend to forget or skip this step especially after a long night out. Sleeping with your makeup on can clog your pores and lead to breakouts. Keep some face wipes by your bed or room for those late night, that way you have no excuse!

Clean your makeup brushes and throw away expired products.
Try to clean your brushes at least once a month with a baby shampoo and spritz them with an antibacterial brush cleaner weekly. Also, throw away any old makeup products you have laying around especially liquid and cream products (mascara, foundation, lip glosses)

Moisturize after showering.
This goes for both your face and body. Taking a warm shower causes your natural oils to be stripped. Therefore, you must moisturize to keep your skin smooth and healthy.

Stop touching your face.
This takes some time to get use to, but it stops you from getting bacteria on your face. Don't pick or scratch your skin especially if your hands are dirty. I got used to not rubbing my eyes after starting to wear contacts and I stopped touching my face once I started wearing makeup.

Be bold!
Try different makeup colors, products! Trust me I know it can be easy to get stuck into the same daily routine. I need to work on this also! In the morning I'm always in a rush and am too lazy to be adventurous but I will try to change it up this year. But remember it doesn't hurt to try! So go for it!!!

Zoya Neeka!!

This is a little late, but better late than never. I got this when I got Jem during one of Zoya's flash promos.

(shade)

(sun)
Neeka, one or two coats (can't remember, swatched this a while ago). I really like this color, it is a dusty purple with gold flecks! Definitely a fan!

Formula was really good as usual, smooth with great coverage and self leveling. The pigmentation is also great which allows for less coats while being completely opaque. It also dries pretty quickly, which is always good. It

I really wanted to try Essie As Gold As It Gets over this just to add some more gold flecks to the mix, but I didn't get a chance to so I'll have to save that for another day.

elf Studio Complete Coverage Concealer- updated review

Happy New Years everyone!! I hope everyone had a great night and celebrated, because I sure did.

So a little while back I put up some swatches of the
elf Studio Complete Coverage Concealer, yet, since then I have used it a few times. The palette is pretty good because it brings four different shades which can be blended together for a perfect match.
The formula itself is pretty light and is not very creamy. If feels oily and thin therefore, it is not for those you want a lot of coverage.
One thing I did notice is that the skin doesn't absorb it as it should, so it can be a bit of a challenge to make it look natural. Since it is oily I wouldn't recommend it on oily skin or for those whose under eyes crease especially if you have fine lines or wrinkles.
However, for younger skin it might work pretty well since most young people have dewy skin and don't have wrinkles. Also, for the price it is a awesome deal since you get four different shades. This is a good palette to keep just in case you get a small pimple or something that needs a quick fix.
