Finger Paints Special Effects Twisted!

So this is my new favorite thing! In my last post I showed you Asylum, and today I have Twisted!

One coat of Twisted over one coat of Sinful Colors Black on Black (enlarge for detail). This one has multicolor flakes of various sizes. It really looks like a party on your nails. The flecks flash every color possible: red, blue, green, yellow, purple and orange. I love this one so much. I think it is a little more festive than Asylum because there are so many colors here. Also, this may look kind of similar to Nubar 2010, but it is supremely different! I'll get some comparison swatches and show you guys in another post. 

Just like Asylum, this is also full of flakes and has great coverage. Everything that I noted for Asylum also applies here. Love the amount of flakes that you get per swipe, but dry time can be a bit longer even with a fast dry top coat. Other than the drying time bit, there's nothing negative about either of these polishes. Love them!

Makeup tips to look great in pictures

Use a primer before applying anything

A primer smooths your skin and allows your foundation to glide on. It also helps control the oil in your skin, which does not look pretty in pictures because it attracts the light.

Choose the right shade for your concealer 

When choosing a concealer make sure it is not too dark or light for your skin tone. If it is too light it will show in the photo and if it is too dark you will have dark circles. Therefore, look for a concealer that is very close to your skin tone and apply it in a well lit room!!

Blush and Contour!

You want to look as if you have a healthy glow. Contouring your face will keep your face from looking flat and will also make your face appear slimmer. Countour your cheekbones, forehead (close to your hairline, especially your temples). Next apply a natural looking blush to apply a bit of color to your cheeks. If you want to look a but warmer or tanned then instead of a blush use a bronzer with some shimmer on your cheeks. 

Eyelashes! 

Add some false eyelashes this will look great on camera because your eyelashes don't really show on camera. False eyelashes enhance your eye and make your eye appear larger. 

Some things to be aware of: 

The flash of a camera sometimes makes it seem as if you are not wearing any makeup. Therefore, add enough color so it will show on camera. Also, if you are taking a black and white photo make sure to wear a bit more of blush and contour because they won't show if they are really light. Black and white photography requires a bit more of color because some tones will barely show. Also really light colors will dissapear.

Finger Paints Special Effects Asylum!

So here comes the next big thing! Flakie polishes! This is definitely going to be the "crackle" of 2012, with a bunch of companies already coming out with flakie collections. The first to really come out with a full ' collection' is Finger Paints with their Special Effects collection. This collection has five different flakie top coats and I ended up buying two! Today I have Asylum for you!

One coat of Asylum over one coat of Sinful Colors Black on Black. You may have to enlarge this picture for more detail. This particular polish has mainly red and blue flakes, as you can see in the photo. If you look closely at the edges you can see the yellow and green flash. The blue also flashes purple which you can kind of see on my index finger. I really love the combination of colors in this one, I haven't seen a flakie polish like this before.

This polish is jam packed with flakes, it's amazing. Each coat gives you a nice, pretty even layer of flakes, I have one coat in the picture, but I actually prefer two. On the down side, it does take a while to dry, so a fast drying top coat definitely helps. Even with the top coat be careful, because even if your nails seem dry, you may dent or scratch off the polish if you're not careful. 

The other colors in the collection are Twisted (my favorite, which I'll show you in my next post), Motley, Flecked and Flashy. Each have a different color combination of flakes, but they're all awesome. These are exclusive to Sally Beauty and should be available everywhere now. Flakies are definitely the new big thing, and I love it! These are $5.49 each, which is a pretty good price if you ask me.
