New stuff from Models Own, Color Club and Orly!!

Before I start I just want to say Happy Rosh Hashanah and Happy National Coffee Day!

Ok first up, Models Own Beetlejuice collection!

How sick are these?!! It's pretty necessary to enlarge this picture to get to see the full details.

Left to right:
Golden Green- fresh energetic acid
Pinky Brown- warm rusty pink
Purple Blue- vibrant punch of fuchsia indigo
Aqua Violet- true sky shimmer
Emerald Black- bold-blackened midnight peacock

These are freaking amazing, I cannot get over it, even though the names are seriously lacking. Five new multi-tonal, multi-chrome polishes. These are going to come out in November and will be priced £5. That's about $7.85 US, which obviously isn't cheap. Also international shipping is £9.95 and you need to make a purchase of at least £20, which comes out to $47.01. So it's going to get a little pricey to get these polishes, but I'm thinking of just sucking it up and getting them all, kind of an early christmas/ hanukkah/ new years present to myself, that's if they don't sell out. I'm not sure I could live without them actually lol

Next, Color Club Backstage Pass collection!

Also, really awesome.

Left to right:
Take the Stage- gold glitter with silver flakes
Wish Upon a Rock- star-multi-colored glitter with purple
Backstage Pass- silver and purple hex glitter
Platinum Record- silver glitter
It's a Hit!- big purple glitter
Fame & Fortune- red base with silver flakes

This is a crazy amount of glitter and I love it. Check out Color Club's Facebook to get close ups and swatches of each of the colors. I'm pretty sure these are already available, or they will be available in October.

And now for three new Orly collections!

The daring color palette reflects smooth, metallic shimmers embellished with holographic sparkle and burnished gold undertones accented with ultra rich jeweled hues. Mineral FX draws inspiration for these shades from the richness and depth of the tones found in precious metals and rare minerals.

Mineral FX includes the following natural raw materials:

  • Fluorophlogopites (crystals) allow for a shimmering color transformation
  • Glass particles, precisely shaped and sized, create a radiant, luminous effect
  • Mica, silica, and striking pigments deliver the two tone, multidimensional effect in each shade
The Mineral FX Collection Lacquers will be available starting November 2011 for $10.00 each. ORLY Nail Lacquers and Treatment products are available at orlybeauty.com, Sally Beauty, Ulta and other purveyors of beauty throughout the U.S. and in over 100 countries worldwide.

Zoya Gems and Jewels Holiday Collection and Color Club Foiled Collection

Zoya Gems and Jewels Collection Holiday 2011

Left to right:
Holly-  Gorgeous green glitzy, glitter glaze (with unique bar glitter).
Rina- Full coverage, rich green metallic shimmer.
Izzy- Vivid pink glitzy, glitter glaze (with unique bar glitter).
Kissy- Full coverage, party pink metallic shimmer.
Noel- Bold blue glitzy, glitter glaze! (with unique bar glitter).
Twila- Full coverage, icy blue metallic shimmer.

I'm not sure which are the jewels and which are the gems, but I do know that this bar glitter is awesome. There isn't much bar glitter out there and I think this is the first time Zoya is releasing some and they are really cool. They really take the regular metallic shimmer polishes to another level.

Here is a link to the swatches so you can see how awesome they really are.

This collection will be available Sept. 15th

Color Club Foiled Collection

There you go, names and all.

From Facebook: "Introducing Color Club's new collection of molten metal lacquers, FOILED. These 6 luxurious liquid shades are strong as metal and have amazing chrome-like shine!"

From just the bottles, they don't really look like anything special, but Color Club has been known to
sneak up on everyone with some really awesome colors and collections so we'll just have to see when they come out.

Color Club Clean Break!

Let's just get to it, shall we?

Clean Break over two coats of Milani Mr. Sandman ( I think, it's another polish that I ripped the label off for some reason). Be careful of not getting enough polish on the brush, because it will get streaky and will result in more cracks. It might look a little sheer at first, but it gets more opaque as it dries, and that is precisely why I like it so much. Something just irks me about crackle that isn't completely opaque. Not sure why, but it's just not for me. So if you want an opaque crackle, these are for you.

The formula was good overall, smooth but thinner than Broken Tokens. With Clean Break you should make sure you have enough on the brush, while with Broken Tokens you have to make sure not to have too much on the brush.

Also, I just wanted to note the caps, as you can see from the picture, it looks just like the OPI shatter caps, but these are wrapped in plastic so you can actually take the crackley looking part off. I have to take them off in order to open mine because it's too loose.

Finally, I just wanted to tell everyone to vote for my minion nails! I entered them in a nail art contest and I'd appreciate your votes! You can vote once a day, so vote and tell your friends! Support us!!

Color Club Broken Tokens!!

I've been looking to get silver crackle for a while now but couldn't decide what brand to get. I had wanted OPI, but then more and more options came out and I finally decided on Color Club.

Broken Tokens over two coats of OPI Sanguine. I had forgotten how awesome Sanguine was and I definitely need to find a good dupe or something. But anyway, I love this. It's not sparkly like OPI Silver Shatter, it's more of a metallic foil finish and it is superrr opaque and that's what I love about it. Also, I feel like it cracks more organically than OPI (comparing it o Black Shatter), you can see diagonal cracks and its just much different. Even after I applied a top coat, it kept cracking. It's cool.

Formula was really nice, smooth and easy to apply. It's also very easy to remove, much easier than I expected. Be careful of putting too much on because then It won't crack as much. That's pretty much it. It's just an awesome crackle.

Girl on a Budget Part: Where to Buy

Last but not least with all this girl on a budget business, I've decided to give you all some tips on where to buy nail polish and such things.

1. Beware CVS!
CVS claims to have great prices, and they do for some things, but nail polish is definitely not one of those things. This is true for Revlon polish in particular, they have them for Over $6, something like $6.79. That's crazy!!! Most Revlon doesn't go for more than $5 usually, the regular colors are around $3.

2. Discount beauty stores are your friend!
Sometimes it's hard to just hard to believe that you're getting the best price, but sometimes it all in the name. Beauty supply, or beauty discount stores usually do have some of the best prices. Brands like Revlon, Sinful Colors, Sally Hansen, Color Club and even Essie are usually $0.20- $1.00 cheaper than regular stores.

3. Not all drugstores are created equal!
As I said before, you should be weary of CVS, but Duane Reade and Walgreens usually have better prices.

4. Go to the mall!
Beauty stores at the mall are my secret weapon. Stores like Essentials and even some salon/stores at the mall usually have great deals on Essie and OPI. Not only do they sell them regularly for about $6.95, but they also have deals like 3 for $18 and sometimes 3 for $15! Those are by far the best prices that I've seen for those two brands. So, prepare to buy 3!

5. Internet, internet, internet!
There are plenty of places on the internet to get good deals on polish. Ebay and Amazon are likely to have some good deals if you dig around for them. Also, ulta.com/ has some really good deals. They have buy 2 get 1 free, and buy 2 get 2 free deals. I'd say definitely check that out.
