OPI He's My Boo!

Back to the Spookettes! After I kind of tireed this one out a couple of days ago for my candy corn design, I was really excited to do full swatches.

He's My Boo, two coats, no top coat. Wow! Super bright! I was so surprised with this polish because it looks so much lighter in the bottle than it actually is on the nails. The bottle looks a few shades lighter. The color is a true orange, which I hae not been able to find lately. It's not too red or too yellow.. just perfect pumpkin orange.

When I first opened the bottle, the polish looked like it would be pretty sheer and take a bunch of coats to be opaque, but that was not the case at all! This polish is so pigmented it's pretty ridiculous. Also, this polish is super shiny without a top coat.

The formula is great. The pigmentations is amazing, as I said and the polish has great coverage and it super smooth.

Then I decided to add Black Shatter for some black. How it definitely looks like halloween! This is definitely a must have for halloween. I think I'll make a list of must haves for halloween...

I also just got press releases for a bunch of new OPI and Nicole by OPI stuff. It actually reminded me to show you guys their other halloween set.

Color Club Clean Break!

Let's just get to it, shall we?

Clean Break over two coats of Milani Mr. Sandman ( I think, it's another polish that I ripped the label off for some reason). Be careful of not getting enough polish on the brush, because it will get streaky and will result in more cracks. It might look a little sheer at first, but it gets more opaque as it dries, and that is precisely why I like it so much. Something just irks me about crackle that isn't completely opaque. Not sure why, but it's just not for me. So if you want an opaque crackle, these are for you.

The formula was good overall, smooth but thinner than Broken Tokens. With Clean Break you should make sure you have enough on the brush, while with Broken Tokens you have to make sure not to have too much on the brush. 

Also, I just wanted to note the caps, as you can see from the picture, it looks just like the OPI shatter caps, but these are wrapped in plastic so you can actually take the crackley looking part off. I have to take them off in order to open mine because it's too loose.

Color Club Broken Tokens!!

I've been looking to get silver crackle for a while now but couldn't decide what brand to get. I had wanted OPI, but then more and more options came out and I finally decided on Color Club.

Broken Tokens over two coats of OPI Sanguine. I had forgotten how awesome Sanguine was and I definitely need to find a good dupe or something. But anyway, I love this. It's not sparkly like OPI Silver Shatter, it's more of a metallic foil finish and it is superrr opaque and that's what I love about it. Also, I feel like it cracks more organically than OPI (comparing it o Black Shatter), you can see diagonal cracks and its just much different. Even after I applied a top coat, it kept cracking. It's cool. 

Formula was really nice, smooth and easy to apply. It's also very easy to remove, much easier than I expected. Be careful of putting too much on because then It won't crack as much. That's pretty much it. It's just an awesome crackle.

OPI Announces Pink Shatter for Breast Cancer Awareness!!!!!!!!!

OPI launches the limited edition Pink Shatter: Pink of Hearts Nail Lacquer to support Susan G. Hot Mess and Black Shatter

So a change of plans for today, I'll be doing the next 2 Orlys on the next post and today I'll be showing you guys my current mani (I've grown very fond of it).

This is 3 coats of Manglaze Hot Mess (in retrospect I could probably have used one coat of Revlon Silver Dollar, oh well). Then when that was dry I used OPI Black Shatter and then after that was completely dry I decided to matte out the whole thing and so did a coat of Manglaze Matte-Astrophe. Its kind of hard to see that its matte because Hot Mess is so sparkly, but it really is I promise.

Upcoming China Glaze Crackle Metals and Orly swatches

Crackle mania continues! A few days ago I found out that China Glaze will be releasing a 6 piece collection of metallic crackles and as far as I've seen, they are pretty awesome. They should be released around July/August.

They look pretty cool, don't they? I'm not sure how much longer this crackle thing will last, but at least this is somewhat new. Here is a link to the swatches:

And now here are some of those full Orly swatches that I promised a while ago.

Ancient Jade, 2 coats. It's a really nice muted green, very much like the color of jade. I like this one a lot. At first glance it looks like a minty color, but it isn't at all minty, it's much more green. So, it looks pretty opaque with one coat, but it is a tiny bit streaky so I suggest a base coat to smooth out your nail before you put this color on so it doesn't streak or bubble up. 

Pure Porcelain, 2 coats. I have the same suggestion for this one in terms of the base coat. But I really like this color because it isn't as sheer as most light cremes. I love that it is completely opaque in 2 coats. It's great.

These are the two Orly cremes that I have (both from the Precious collection) and I have to say that I love the pigmentation of them. Even though they are on the lighter side (especially Pure Porcelain) they are great in 2 coats and aren't as sheer as expected. For my next post I'll be showing the two iridescent shades that I have from the Precious collection.

New stuff from OPI

We're home! Finally and we are so happy to be here and blog again! It was kind of like withdrawal. So I do have a lot of things to show you guys and I thought that I would start off with some press releases and new stuff from OPI.

First we have three new shades for Serena's Glam Slam! England collection.

Left to right:

Your Royal Shine-ness- metallic silver

Servin' Up Sparkle- shimmery silver glitter 

Grape...Set...Match- metallic purple

Now these will not come in a set of three, but will be split up into two sets of two. The first one will have  Your Royal Shine-ness and Servin' Up Sparkle and the second will have Grape...Set...Match and Servin' Up Sparkle. They will be avaible June 2011 and the retail price if $14.95 per duo pack. This is the first Glam Slam! collection to not feature a shatter polish, instead Servin' Up Sparkle is a glitter top coat.

Next, we have OPI for Sephora Blasted 

So there really isn't much to say about these. Blasted sounds pretty interesting, but they are just more crackle polishes. The gold is new, but black and silver are obviously not. There may be a difference in finish or formula but I'm not sure. All I know is that the crackle thing is getting way over played.

Finally, we have Nicole by OPI texture coat.

Yep, more crackle. I'm not sure what they meant by texture coat, but as far as I can see it looks just like more crackle! Not only is it more crackle, but it's the same colors. I really don't have a problem with it, I mean different crackles for different prices and I don't know how the formula and stuff is. I guess we'll just have to see. I would like to see some more original colors though. This is coming out in July 2011.

Revlon Black with Envy!

Victory! I was in Walgreens completely not looking for this and out of the corner of my eye I saw a whole display for it. My Walgreens must be seriously behind the times, because this has been sold out forever and last time I went looking for it, it was nowhere to be found. If you recall, I did a girl on a budget post about this comparing it to Chanel Black Pearl. So here are the swatches!

Well it is completely overcast here in the Northeast, so taking pictures is a complete pain because nothing looks right in artificial light. The picture with flash is pretty close to how it looks in person, but it looks a little too metallic in the picture. It has a glossy finish like in the bottom picture, but the color is a little more grey rather than blue-toned like it looks there. Also, it almost looks creme in in the bottom picture, but you can see the shimmer in person. So mix the two pictures together in your minds and you'll have it!

Anyway, I have on two coats and a top coat. The formula is smooth and even but the polish is a little sheer, more sheer than I expected. It's fine with two coats but I probably should have done three, oh well. The color is a dark grey with silver almost light blue shimmery flecks or flecky shimmer (find of a mix between flecks and shimmer. It's really nice). 

I've been looking at swatches of Black Pearl and they are veryyyyy similar. It was less than $6 so I suggest everyone go and double check Walgreens! ALSO!! While I was there I saw that Sally Hansen has a whole new crackle collection. Confused? Yeah I was too. I had no idea this was coming out, totally caught me off guard. There is blue, white, silver, black, gold, red? and possible something else that I don't remember. I was going to get the white or maybe silver, but I'm planning to get those from OPI so I didn't get them. They were $6 or $8 each ( I don't remember lol) so the price isn't that much cheaper than OPI. One of the bloggers that I follow read my mind and posted a review of the blue and gold this morning. So definitely check that out.

MAC Mischievous Mint and Black Shatter

So, I've had on Mischievous Mint for a full week and the wear is absolutely fantastic (the same goes for Mean and Green). Seriously, not one chip after a full 7 days! I thought it would be a waste to remove a manicure that hadn't chipped at all, so I just added a bit to it. I've been wanted to try shatter tips, and I used this as my opportunity

Indeed, I like it. I just put Black Shatter on the tips freehand and no top coat. 

The whole MAC Quite Cute Collection kind of reminds me Easter because of the pastel colors, and when I did this it kind of reminded me of an easter egg. Like when you dye an easter egg it can sometimes get cracks of color, yeah like that. So, I think its pretty appropriate for the upcoming holiday.

Brucci Alexandra's "Hot" Gray and Black Shatter

I've been on the lookout for a nice gray for about 6 years.. I didn't realize it was that long of a time until I just thought about it. Woah, that kind of makes me feel old. But on the same day that I got the OPI My Private Jet I found the perfect gray. Usually, I find that grays are too much on the purple or brown side, or are too sparkly or shimmery, but this one is a perfect creme grey.

The coverage was amazing, I have one 1 coat here and it was perfect. I would think a light color like this could be sheer, like many of the creams and beiges, but it wasn't. The formula was also great, really smooth. I've always found Brucci to be a really great brand. they have really nice quality polishes in so many awesome colors. One of my favorites is, Black and Blue and now definitely this one. I can't get over how beautiful this gray is. I loveeeee it. Yeah so, I totally recommend it to anyone looking for a nice light gray. 

Then I started thinking that gray would look great under the Black Shatter, so the experimentation continued!

And I was right, it looks awesomeeeee. I love the light creme gray under the black, it's a nice contrast without taking away from each. I'll probably be doing one more Black Shatter experiment after this, but it won't be up for a while.

Tarino Tarantino Empire!

I've actually been eyeing this polish at Sephora.com for a while, but it's been sold out. So, on my most recent trip to Sephora (I ventured to get Urban Decay's Heavy Metal eyeliner in Spandex, which will be reviewed soon) when I was scouring the sale stuff I saw it! Three of them actually, so I grabbed one! Hah victory! After my Black Shatter overspending fail, this made me feel much better! The money I saved on this pretty much evened out my overspending. So, here it is!

This color was seriously impressively pigmented and the application was really nice and smooth. The color is a shimmery in the light, but it's hard to capture, you can kind of see it in the bottle. It does really remind me of the Sally Hansen Pixel Pretty from a few posts ago. I'll probably do a comparison a little later on, but as far as I can tell, Pixel Pretty is more sheer and more frosty. Empire is nicely opaque with just one coat, but its perfect with 2. I also have a top coat on here. I would just warn everyone to make sure that the brush doesn't have too much polish on it. I did have a tiny issue of having too much polish on the brush and it gets kind of unevenly dispersed. Other than that this polish was great! If Tarina decided on coming out with new polishes I would definitely buy them. 

I wanted to show you all how awesome and shimmery the cap of the bottle was lol I wish that color was a polish! It's actually pretty close to one of the Orly Cosmic FX polishes, Galaxy Girl maybe?

Here it is with the Black Shatter. I opted out of a top coat just to show you all how it looks pretty matte. It's actually a little shinier in real life, but it really does need a top coat if you want it to be full gloss. Nice either way. I do hear that it starts to chip off without a top coat, so I'll test that out.

OPI Black Shatter!

Ironically enough, my Black Shatter came in an hour after my last post. I should have known that would happen. I had a feeling I would get it that day, but I didn't have time to wait for the mail. Figures. Anyway, I didn't just get the Black Shatter, I got the Serena Williams Glam Slam Set which also comes with Simply Smashing. Ok, I know this is stupid, but I got really upset about it yesterday so I have to tell everyone. Yesterday, I went to Harmons (discount beauty) and as I was passing their OPI section I noticed they had the Glam Slam Set, and it was only $13.99! UGH! I paid $20.99 on ebay! That was the best price I had found, I didn't even consider that they would have it because Black Shatter was sold out everywhere!!! Really overspending $7 isn't bad at all, but its the principle of the thing. So, that's my sad sorry for the day. Now on to the polish!!

Next up is Simply Smashing

Because this is Serena Williams, of course there would be a tennis ball colored polish. When I first saw it online it really looked super tennis ball green, and I didn't expect it to be so glittery. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it. I have 2 coats on here and the coverage is pretty good. It is a tiny bit sheer so make sure the coats are thick enough. It's a really nice smooth formula, and I didn't expect anything less from OPI.

It even matches my couch cushions!

Now for the Black Shatter!

Finally, some decent shots! 

The Black Shatter is awesomeee. Once you put it on it instantly starts to crackle. It's really cool. I had high hopes for it and it really delivered. Now depending on how thick of a coat you put on the way it crackles will be different. 

With a thinner coat you'll more crackling that results in smaller pieces of the black

With a thicker coat you'll get less crackling and bigger pieces of the black.

When I was reading other reviews, I say some people saying that the Black Shatter was kind of goopy, but I didn't experience that. The application was good. At first I did have some trouble getting enough on the brush, but then you get used to how it works. This is seriously awesome. I love it. No complaints at all. My mom even liked it.
