MAC Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation

I have been using the MAC Pro longwear foundation for over quite a while now. Before I was using the MAC Studio Fix liquid foundation in NW20. I bought my MAC Pro longwear the same shade , NW20.

So MAC claims :

A long-wear foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition. Lightweight and creamy, applies smoothly to provide sheer to medium coverage. Even in hot and humid conditions, controls oil to keep skin fresh, natural and flawless. Provides everyday SPF protection.

The truth

This foundation is actually great and I really like it. First, my skin in combination so I tend to get oily in the t-zone. I expected the foundation to look fresh and flawless throughout the entire day, this is not the case.  It does last the entire day however your skin does end up getting a bit oily, which was a bit of a disappointment.  I did not get as oily as I would get with Studio Fix though, so it's not that bad. But they do say the truth when they say it last long, you really have to remove it to get it off your face with makeup remover or soap.

The formula is fairly thick and requires a lot if blending, more that Studio FIx. You also have to blend it quickly because it dries pretty quick. The finish is matte but not to the point it looks like you  have tons of powder on. The coverage I would say is medium not full, you still need concealer for marks that you want to cover.

Would I buy it again?

Yes, actually just bought another bottle of it yesterday.

OPI Black Shatter!

Ironically enough, my Black Shatter came in an hour after my last post. I should have known that would happen. I had a feeling I would get it that day, but I didn't have time to wait for the mail. Figures. Anyway, I didn't just get the Black Shatter, I got the Serena Williams Glam Slam Set which also comes with Simply Smashing. Ok, I know this is stupid, but I got really upset about it yesterday so I have to tell everyone. Yesterday, I went to Harmons (discount beauty) and as I was passing their OPI section I noticed they had the Glam Slam Set, and it was only $13.99! UGH! I paid $20.99 on ebay! That was the best price I had found, I didn't even consider that they would have it because Black Shatter was sold out everywhere!!! Really overspending $7 isn't bad at all, but its the principle of the thing. So, that's my sad sorry for the day. Now on to the polish!!

Here is the set

Next up is Simply Smashing

Because this is Serena Williams, of course there would be a tennis ball colored polish. When I first saw it online it really looked super tennis ball green, and I didn't expect it to be so glittery. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it. I have 2 coats on here and the coverage is pretty good. It is a tiny bit sheer so make sure the coats are thick enough. It's a really nice smooth formula, and I didn't expect anything less from OPI.

It even matches my couch cushions!

Now for the Black Shatter!

Finally, some decent shots!

The Black Shatter is awesomeee. Once you put it on it instantly starts to crackle. It's really cool. I had high hopes for it and it really delivered. Now depending on how thick of a coat you put on the way it crackles will be different.

With a thinner coat you'll more crackling that results in smaller pieces of the black
With a thicker coat you'll get less crackling and bigger pieces of the black.

When I was reading other reviews, I say some people saying that the Black Shatter was kind of goopy, but I didn't experience that. The application was good. At first I did have some trouble getting enough on the brush, but then you get used to how it works. This is seriously awesome. I love it. No complaints at all. My mom even liked it.

Oh and I wanted to show you all this awesome site. This lady hand paints every pattern on her own nails and it is freakin amazing. http://supanails.tumblr.com/, definitely check that out!

Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover

Price: about $8

This is what the website claims:
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover takes off even waterproof eye makeup without leaving an oily residue.

Forget harsh tugging and pulling. This ultra-gentle dual phase formula activates when shaken to remove all eye makeup—even waterproof mascara—without any greasy residue. It is ophthalmologist tested, safe for contact lens wearers and oil free.

Take off all your eye makeup the gentle way.

  • Dual-action formula removes even waterproof makeup

  • Oil-free, non-greasy

  • Ophthalmologist tested

  • Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

  • So is Neutrogena's claim true?

Yes this is actually my favorite makeup remover!! It really works!! I have tried many other expensive makeup remover and they just didn't work. This formula is very gentile and does not sting. I have very sensitive skin especially around the eye area and this makeup remover does not irritate my skin.  With other  make up remover my skin gets really irritated, red and dry to the point I can't put anything on my eye lid. Also, I wear contacts
and if I accidently get anything in my eye it does not bother me.

You have to shake it because it separates into two formulas, a liquid on top and an oil on the bottom. I use a cotton ball and it works just fine even in waterproof mascara.

TIP: Lotion also works great to clean small amounts of makeup off. When I make a small mistake with my eyeliner I take a Q-tip with a bit of lotion and fix it. I rather use lotion because makeup remover sometimes gets a little messy.

    Sally Hansen HD

Today I have an oldie but goodie, Sally Hansen HD in Pixel Pretty. These came out a good while ago, and I remember seeing the promo ad for these and being in love with this color.

This color reminds me of islands and the ocean and sunshine, which is ironic because it is pouring rain here. I hope all you guys are having better weather than we are.

So shiny. I wish the sun was out :(

The color is actually more of the color in the first picture but with the shine of the second. It's interesting. Since it reminded me so much of an island I decided to do an experiment.

It's and island! Hah. I did it free hand (I think I did pretty good!) and its still kind of wet in the picture. This is my first time doing anything like this free hand and I apologize for the blurriness of some of the pictures. I think its cute and it really makes me want to go on vacation. The trunk of the tree is OPI You Don't Know Jacques, the leaves are Sally Hansen Green with Envy, the sand is Wet n' Wild Shield and the sun is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lightening. Oh, and I did do a top coat of the love of my life, Seche Vite.

I was debating about doing this last night when I couldn't sleep. I was hoping I'd have my black shatter by now so I could do that, but sadly I haven't gotten it yet. Sad. But I like this. I only did it on my left hand and I'm not planning on doing it on my right ( I don't think my left hand could handle that kind of pressure). Well I hope you guys like it and I hope to have my black shatter and my surprise polish soon!

Which false lashes are better?- False Eyelashes 101

    Individuals vs. Strip

False lashes are great to brighten your eye and make your eye appear bigger. Lashes are great for both a natural look and more dramatic look. Many women avoid wearing false lashes because they feel they are hard to put on however, today they are becoming very popular. Many women are getting lash extensions by professionals. But today I will cover the differences between individual lashes and a strip.

So What Are Individual Lashes Anyways?

    Single lash

Individual lashes come in different ways. They come with 4 to 5 lashes in a cluster . Also  they come as singles; one single lash. Both come is different lengths including short, medium and large. Which size you decide to use will depend on the length of your natural lashes. You can use two different lengths as well. If you notice most of us have lashes that are longer at the outer corner of the eye, so you can apply longer ones there. JUST MAKE SURE THEY BLEND with your lashes and in length!!
So individual lashes are great for adding volume and to achieve a natural look. Also individuals are great to fill any gaps you have in your natural lashes, this will add fullness. With individuals you have control of how dramatic or natural you want to go. These look more natural because there is no track keeping them together. However, they will take longer to apply.

    Strip eyelashes?

Strip lashes come in many different lengths, colors, textures and styles. Therefore you have a variety of    styles to choose from. Strip lashes are much quicker to apply. Strip lashes do come in natural and dramatic looks.

For a natural look try lashes like below:
These might look a little crazy but if you notice our natural lashes don't grown in one direction. Therefore lashes like these will blend in and will give you a natural set of lashes. Your lashes are also different lengths.

Below are some more dramatic lashes:

Both of the lashes will be great for a more dramatic look yet not a obvious "look at me I have false eyelashes" kind of way. Whether you want a natural or dramatic look you should always look for lashes that will blend in with your own lashes. You should try lashes that come with different lengths because this will look more real.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE!!! I have not seen anyone that could pull off lashes like theses, so please just avoid them. They look really fake and do not blend in at all. No one has lashes that are all  the same length, growing in the same direction and that are that curled. I have seen so many women wear eyelashes like these and they just don't work especially if you have no other makeup on.

Examples of different eyelash looks you can achieve:

    Before and after

    What glue should I use?
The best glues in the market are the DUO(about $5) and the shu uemura ($10). I reccomend DUO it's the most used in the makeup industry. Honestly, this is the only one I have see being used by makeup artist. You do not have to worry about your eyelashes falling off. DUO makes two glues the one below is white and dries black. They also have one that dries clear and comes in a red lettering box.

Describing how to apply the eyelashes is very hard and will just confuse you, therefore I will do a tutorial soon. However, I will provide you with some tips that will make it much easier.
    • If you notice strip eyelashes start shorter and end longer. Therefore there is one strip for your left eye and one for you right eye, just like your shoes. The end with the shorter lashes goes at the inner part of your eye. The longer lashes go on the outer corner of your eye, This may seem obvious to some of you but this is a very common mistake.
    • Before applying any glue to the strip eyelashes measure them against your own eye following your own eyelashes. Some people have eyes that are shorter than the eyelash strip. If the strip is too long for your eye cut them where you see your  own eyelashes end. Cut them on the end with the longer lashes.
    • Also I recommend that a minute or two before you apply your lashes curl both ends together or curl then around a pen or pencil. This will make it easier to apply because our eyes go in a curl. (the photo below is an example of what I mean).

    • After applying the glue on the eyelashes let the glue dry for 3 to 5 seconds before applying it on your lashes.

    OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous!

As I was very upset with the nail polish from the last post, I decided to do a mani that would make me happy. I was rummaging through my stuff, looking for something that wasn't dark or a glitter (I didn't want to spend forever removing a glitter polish). And then, this came back into my life.

(you can even see my lit book in the background hah)
Yes, its lovely. All sparkly and glittery, and looks like a foil. I remembered by I loved it so much when I put it on. For a while there I had forgotten. Anyway, this is awesome because you get the effect of a glitter without the hassle of removing it. Also, I decided to test out my argyle pattern from the Konad M60 plate. Obviously I had some issues getting the pattern all the way at the bottom of my nail. I'm not sure why. Maybe my nails are getting too long. *Sighs*

OH NEWS!!! did anyone happen to see the supposed OPI Pirates of The Caribbean Stranger Tides collection? If you didn't here's the link:
I'm actually pretty disappointed with it. When I heard, I was super excited but these colors really are really underwhelming and don't seem to fit the Pirates of The Caribbean theme (my favorite movies btw). Well, maybe besides the silver shatter (but that really doesn't even fit), which I think I should get a sample of because this is all coming out very close to my birthday :) please and thank you OPI lol

And in other news, I am still waiting for my black shatter. I should get it this week but we'll see annnddddddd my bestest friend in the world got me a very special something! I'm not going to tell you what it is, you'll just have to wait for the post!

    Lipstick Finishes- Lipstick 101

Many people are unaware that lipstick comes in different finishes

    Matte

Matte lipstick gives the lip a good color and tend to be more opaque. They are bold and dramatic. Instead of being shiny the color is flat, therefore they tend to dry the lips. You should apply a moisturizing base before applying the lipstick. I recommend putting a lip balm first, before applying any makeup on your face. This way by the time you get to applying your lipstick, your lips will be nice and soft. With matte lipstick you tend to see more of the texture and cracks on the lips so it is very important for your lips to be in good condition.

    Pearly/Frost

Pearly and frost lipstick reflect light, making your lips sparkle. These lipstick can also feel heavy and may even dry and crack your lips, therefore apply a balm before.

    Creme

Creme lipsticks contain more wax than the other, helping protect your lips from feeling dry.  They feel creamier and nicer on the lips. This finish is not really shiny so it may require for lip gloss to be applied over the lipstick.

    Gloss

Gloss isn't a lipstick but rather a lip enhancer, it adds shine to the lips and more of a translucent color. They can be worn with or without lipstick. Lip gloss also adds depth and dimension to the lips (great for women who have thin lips). Gloss is very quick, easy to apply and retouch throughout the day.

    Long Lasting and Transfer- Resistant

These lipsticks or lip-glosses keep the color on your lips for hours. Lip glosses that are long lasting tend to come in a two step application; the color and then a lip gloss or balm to be applied on top. Long lasting lipsticks last from 4 to 6hours, while transfer resistant may last 8 or more hours. However. you will also need a balm because these lipsticks and lip glosses may dry your lips.

    Expressions Girl

First and foremost, Happy President's Day! I hope everyone is enjoying their day off, I know I am. But now, onward to the post. A few days ago, Friday I believe, I was in TJ Maxx and I was looking around for anything interesting (and cheap).  I came across this cute 24 piece mini set.

I really liked it because the polishes came in pairs. The bottom row of polishes all had a pearl finish and the top row was matching glitters. They was a really nice variety of colors and for $5.99 it was hard not to take them. I did have some doubts about the quality, and I was right.

This is one of the polish from the first picture. It's the one in the left corner. I really liked the aquamarine-tealish color. Oh well.

    (In the shade)

    (In the sunlight)
    Index: pearl finish
    Middle:glitter
Ring: pearl with glitter over it

As you can see, it is very very sheer. Also the brush was TERRIBLE! It was like one of those plastic paint brushes that you use when you're a kid. Yeah, really bad. Also, the polish itself was super goopy when layered. I was going to swatch all the colors, but after I saw this I realized it would be an incredible waste. And now I don't know what to do with this set. Too bad these were so darn cute. *Sigh*

On another note, there is a sale nail polish/ nail care sale that's ending tonight on Hautelook.com. I checked it out, there are individual polishes and trios for sale along with a bunch of nail care stuff. I wasn't sure of the quality so I passed on buying anything. So, you guys can check that out if you're a member (this is another one of those private sale sites). And let's all hope my next purchase isn't a complete fail!

Wet n Wild liner vs MAC Fluidline

    MAC fluidline in Blacktrack
    $15

Wet n Wild Mega Creme Liner
    $3 to $4

I love the MAC fluidline gel eye liner!! It goes on VERY smooth, and silky. One thing I really love about this gel liner is that once you have enough product on the brush, it will give a very dark and crisp looking line. You will not have to keep getting more product of your brush because it doesn't dry out. Also this eye liner last the entire day and does not smudge. When compared to other black liner  would say this liner in more of a softer black.
The Wet n Wild liner is darker in color; its a very dark black. Also it last longer than MAC's fluidline. I've noticed this because when I try to remove it , it gives me a harder time. I remove my makeup in the shower with regular soap (my skin is too sensitive for daily use of makeup remover), and the Wet n Wild is very hard to remove. However this is a good thing if you want a long lasting wear. And don't expect either liner to come right off, in general keep in mind gel liner are harder to remove than other eyeliners. So even MAC's fluidline will not come right off.
One thing I don't like from the Wet n Wild liner is that it is very hard to remove from my brushes. Is gets my brushes very hard and almost impossible to remove. Even with a very powerful makeup remover, I still have a hard time. When it comes to my MAC Fluidline I am able to use the same brush without cleaning it for a few days or a week because it stays soft and does not harder the brush. When I use Wet n Wild it gets my brush so stiff that I can't even apply the liner properly.
Also, Wet n Wild dries out a lot faster so you have to be quicker when applying it, if not you will have to dip you brush in once again.

Overall, these are both awesome gel liners. I use either of them, however I prefer the MAC Fluidline just because of the hard time I have cleaning my brushes with the Wet n Wild liner. I also find that MAC's gel liner is smoother and easier to use. However, for the price of the Wet n Wild liner this is not that big of a deal. I think for beginners or anyone looking to try gel eyeliner they should definitely consider Wet n Wild Creme liner, it's worth its value.

I recommend to use a thin eyeliner brush, I think they are easier to use and more controllable.

    Until next time,

    Over The Rainbow Ruffian Style!

Everyone remember when I posted that Valentine's day ruffian mani? And I said that I had another one in the works? Well here it is!!

Thumb: 2 coats of Sally Hansen Cherry Red (Xtreme Wear)
Index: 2 coats of Sally Hansen Lightening (Insta-Dri)
Middle: 2 coats of Sally Hansen Green with Envy (Xtreme Wear)
Ring: 2 coats of Sally Hansen Blue It (Xtreme Wear)
Pinky: 2 coats of some unnamed purple Milani ( I think I tore off the name by accident a while back)

After all the nails were painted I did a thick coat of Milani Black Magic over the color and over that I did a coat of Seche Vite. When doing the black coat, you need to make sure that its thick enough to be opaque so the color underneath does not show through. It was cool because from the underside of my nails you could see all the colors but from the top it was just black. Originally I wasn't sure if I should use a glossy or matte black, but I settled on glossy obviously. I think that using a matte top coat on the whole thing would be pretty cool too, maybe I'll try that one day. I also considered doing matching tips, but it was too much work for me lol

I love this. It is really simple to do (all it takes is a steady hand) and the top color glides on really easily if you have enough polish on the brush. So just make sure of that.

ALSO! I have good news!!! I am awaiting a special package in the mail, it should arrive this coming week. Want to know what it is? DUM DUM DUM! OPI Black Shatter!! Definitely keep an eye out for that!

    Until next time,
    The Wicked
