OPI Nicki Minaj Did It On 'Em and Urban Decay on Hautelook!

This is my least favorite of the minis, so I wanted to show it first.

Did It On 'Em, three coats. This is a tennis ball / lime creme. I was anticipating it being a little more lime green than tennis ball colored, but it leans that weird yellow green color. Eh.

The formula on this was good, it was smooth and covered nicely but was kind of sheer. I needed three coats to get it really opaque. It was the sheerest of the three minis cremes that were in the set. I was really expecting a thicker, one-coat-coverage formula, but maybe I've just been spoiled by Zoya. Really, there were no problems with it, besides the sheerness.

On another note, (I forgot to mention this in my sales post) there is an Urban Decay sale going on on Hautelook.com! It is a member's only site, but you can click here and sign up: http://www.hautelook.com/short/3BxCv
The sale is pretty awesome, they have 24/7 Glide On Eyeliner sets and even the Book of Shadows IV Palette! And it's only $29! That's crazy! With shipping it's $33.95 (yeah I bought one haha) and that's still cheaper than buying it from Urban Decay where it's on sale for $44... so jump on that!

Holiday Lip!! Sales and promo codes!

First off, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! For those of us who are hispanic I know we celebrate Christmas Eve, so enjoy and have a great time with your loved ones. I would also like to thank everyone for reading our blog!! Thanks guys!!

So now let's get down to business. Below are a few steps on how on how to apply your lipstick in order to make it last. I know most of us will be eating and drinking so we need something that would be long lasting.

First, make sure your lips are clean and have nothing on them. Then apply a light concealer all over your lips. This will make your lipstick last all night and will bring out the color.

Next, apply a nude lip liner all around the edges or your lip. I reccommend filling in the edges a bit to make sure the lipstick doesn't bleed.

Finally, apply your lipstick, with a brush to make sure you get every spot and the corner of your lips. From experience I have learned that if you apply a sticky lip gloss on top it will make the color stay longer because it adds an extra layer. Try to find a clear or a color close to your lipstick, but don't use a very shiny lipstick. You don't want to look like you just finished eating some greasy chicken.

With these steps I have lasted a whole night without having to retouch (hate retouching) . But of course try to be careful and avoid licking your lips.

Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Laquer in Racy Green!

I actually got this color a good while ago, around July when it came out and never got a chance to swatch it, which is really sad. But now that my halloween-fest is over, I have time to go back and swatch everything! Woohoo!
(natural light)

(sun light)

Racy Green, two coats. It's a green/ teal/ blue color, kind of peacock-esque. I originally thought that the color would be darker according to Milani's website, but you know how that goes. The finish is interesting, it's shimmery but not just pure shimmer. In some lights it looks kind of metallic and foily and in others not so much. I do love it in the sunlight.

The whole set of these are supposed to be fast drying, one coat polishes. Which makes perfect sense because if you only have to use one coat, it should theoretically dry faster. I happened to use two coats because even though the polish was opage in one coat, the color wasnt very saturated and was lighter than the bottle color. The color does build up with the more coats you add, two coats was perfect for me, I'm not sure how much more the color would build up with three. The dry time was very fast though, so I'll definitely give them props for that.

The formula on it was great. Even though it has all that shimmer and stuff in it, it's not too thick and is really smooth and has really nice coverage. And even though it is fast drying it spreads really easily.

And remember, the Urban Decay Friends and Family Sale ends tomorrow! 20% off everything with the code FFHOLIDAY11!

Gold eye makeup look!

Here is a gold eye makeup look I did today. I really like gold eyeshadows and pigments yet I always end up buying them and not using them. But I will be using them more frequently especially because I'm in love with Makeupstore's pigment ( I did a review on it already.)
I'm really sorry I only have this photo but my camera was dying and I am in a bit of a hurry right now. But if anyone has any questions or wants more photos, please let us know!

What I used:

Primer- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer
Base color- Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Honey
Crease- Make Up Store Eyedust in Lounge
Inner corner- Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Honey
Top Liner- MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
Bottom Liner- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Pencil in Zero then set it with Urban Decay Shadow in Zero

Mascara- L'oreal Extra Volume Mascara

Highlight under eyebrow-  MAC eyeshadow in Ricepaper

Girl On A Budget- Glitter Liners and Mascara

So continuing our theme of "Girl On A Budget", I decided to compare NYX Glitter Eyeliner to Urban Decay's Glitter liners.

                                                           NYX  Candy Glitter Eye Liner
Jade
$4.50

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner
Stagedive
$18.00

Glitter eyeliners are a very cool way of adding a more exciting and unique look to your makeup. The NYX liner and Urban Decay are very similar in color, they are both a jade color. When it comes to glitter liners you can't really tell the difference from a cheaper or more expensive one. Therefore, if you are looking to just try a new look I would recommend the NYX Glitter Eyeliner.

Mascara

Loreal (left)
Make Up Forever (right)

Loreal Extra
Volume Collagen Mascara
about $7

Make Up Forever
Smoky Lash
$22

Before getting into details let me clarify that, that Make Up Forever wand does not come bended. I bended mine by mistake, but it does help when applying the mascara. As you can see in the photos, they both have similar wands. The Loreal one is a bit thicker. I first had tried the Make Up Forever mascara and loved it! Not that long ago I decided to try the Loreal mascara and realized when I applied it they gave me similar results. Since I use mascara everyday I have been buying the Loreal one for every day use. And always keep the Make Up Forever when I want a more dramatic set of lashes.

Upcoming Collections Part 2!

Deborah Lippmann Spring 2011
These are the 2 new shades from Deborah Lippman

Left to Right:
Glitter in the Air- blue base with pink and blue glitter
Naked- beige, fleshy tone

I thought this was pretty interesting when I first saw it, I'm intrigued by Naked, I'm not usually a fan of beige polishes because they are really sheer and this one is no exception, but I like this one. Glitter in the Air is just very unexpected for me, it's cute and little girly but nice. It is a very sparse glitter. Here are some really great swatches

China Glaze Island Escape Summer 2011

Left to Right:
Papaya Punch-orange creme
108 Degrees-berry pink with micro glitter
Senorita Bonita-purple shimmer with pink micro glitter
Blue Iguana-sparkly blue
Cha Cha Cha-green shimmer
Electric Pineapple-lime green creme

Very island-y! I think the collection fits perfectly with the name. My favorite color by far is Papaya Punch, it's not too orange yet not too light. I love it. Here are links to 2 different swatches

Also I wanted to mention that hautelook.com is having an Urban Decay sale which ends Saturday 4/2 at 11 am. They have a bunch of products for a really reduced price, including their Apocalyptic Nail set for $10 and Ink for Eyes in Pyrotechnics for $6.50! Reminder: this is a private sale site so you'd need to sign up.
