Super Mini Ulta Haul!

I've been kind of on a makeup binge recently, and I've made a bunch of purchases over the past month/ month and a half. I thought I'd show you the stuff that I bought from Ulta.com!

NYX Slide On, Glide On, Stay On & Definitely A Turn On Water proof, Extreme Shine Eye Liner (yeah, the name is really that long).
On the left is Tropical Green and on the right in Jet Black.

The point of the pencil. Look familiar? Yep, just like Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils

Left to right:
Tropical Green- Metallic forest green
Jet Black- Matte black

So there are NYX dupes of the Urban Decay 24/7  Glide On Eye Pencils. Many of the colors are really similar, you can find a lot of comparative swatches online. Urban Decay may have more color options (NYX has 18 colors to Urban Decays 26 colors) , but quality wise, can't say one is better than the other. There are super smooth and SO pigmented. My swatches are literally one really light swipe over bare skin. They definitely last as well, I tested out Jet black as eyeliner on my upper lid and it would not budge. Lasted without smudging for about two days! (then I rubbed it off lol). Now I use these on my lower lash line and waterline and they last pretty much all day. On the waterline they don't last as long, but that's just the nature of your waterline.

These are $8, opposed to $18 each for Urban Decay. Love the price, love the quality, definitely will repurchase.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream
On the left is Istanbul and Stockholm on the right.

Istanbul, Stockholm

Left to right:
Istanbul- a nude pink
Stockholm- nude

These really were the product of a new found lip product obsession I had (it's pretty much over now). I was really looking for something completely nude, no shimmer, no shine and I found these and they are perfect! The applicator is a traditional doe foot applicator, and it does the job just fine. The texture of these is awesome, really smooth with really nice pigmentation and coverage. They are kind the perfect combination of lipstick and lip gloss, without the gloss! I really like these and they actually last a long time without really rubbing off. I found that Istanbul is closer to my lip color so its pretty much the perfect natural nude lip color, while Stockholm is more skin tone colored so it makes my lips a little more orangey tone to them.

These are $5.99 a piece, but I took advantage of the buy one NYX item get one 50% off offer, so I got these for $3 each. Not a bad deal at all!!

Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer

Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer

Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer

This is actually a  mini of the Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer, I'm guessing the regular size is much bigger. If you go on the website, this looks much more pink than it actually is, so don't be fooled! It is also very very shimmery, which isn't that great for bronzer because you can't contour with it, so I decided to use it as blush and I love it!

This was only $6, which I think is great for a Lorac product. Also, it says mini, but it is actually much bigger than I expected and has a lot of product in it. Definitely a good deal if you want to try out some Lorac.

Sorry this is such a late post btw!! I had a super busy day. Wanna hear my schedule?!!
Here goes: Did homework, went to my first class (waste), then had a meeting, second class (pretty much a meeting), another meeting, third class, and another meeting! Then commute home and watch Pretty Little Liars and finally blog post!

Yep, serious business.

Zoya Julieanne!

Finally a sunny day! So I was actually able to take some pictures! Wooohooo

Julieanne, three coats. This is a dark royal blue/purple base with purple/pink glass flecks. You don't get much of the pink in the pictures but you can see them better in real life and more so in the bottle. In the bottle, the flecks also have a gold duochrome, but that doesn't come out on the nail, you can kind of see it on the bottom of the bottle of the first picture. Remember, you can enlarge these pictures by clicking on them.

The formula on this was much sheerer than I'm used to with Zoya, granted it isn't a creme. It is from the same collection as Edyta (that I reviewed here) and so the formulations are the same. It was pretty opaque in two coats, but three intensified the color. Since it is pretty sheer, you should do thin coats for better layering.

Overall, I really like this polish, I don't think I have a color exactly like this so it's a nice addition to my collection. It's actually my 10th Zoya polish! Yay! I have yet to be disappointed with any Zoya polish I have tried, definitely a brand to try out especially during one of their awesome promos!

Hiding those dark circles!

So in a previous post I said I would go into greater detail on hiding dark circles. So here it is:

Some people tend to forget that we all have different undertones which affect the color of your skin and dark circles. This is why I said that just because a concealer works or someone else doesn't mean it will work on you.

This may sound strange but undertones under the eye range from purple, blue, yellow, pink, red ect. To figure out what colors you have under your eyes look closely at the different shades you see. Do you see any spider veins? If so what color are they? What color do you see in the corner of your eye?

If you just have minor dark circles, you may get away with just using a concealer close to your skin color. However, for those with more serious dark circles determining this will help you choose the right concealer. This will help you achieve a refreshed look and will hide your dark circles perfectly.

If you have blue, purplish tones you need a concealer with a orange undertone to cancel out these shades.
If you have redder tones you will want a concealer with a green under tone.

If you have brownish tomes you will need a concealer with a blueish undertone.

If you have puffy eyes then do not get a concealer that is lighter than your skin tone because this will actually highlight them and bring them out more. Instead you will need a concaeler a shade darker than your skin tone to hide them.

If your eyes are recessed (sunken in) then you will do the opposite and use a concealer a shade lighter to make them appear normal.

New Revlon bottle shapes and display!!

I was originally planning to show you Zoya Julieanne today, but it is super cloudy and I can't get a good picture in the overcast. So, instead I'm going to show you a Revlon display that I came across on Tuesday.

If you enlarge this you can see that Revlon has changed their bottle shape to a round bottle! Instead of that weird cone type shape they had before. I'm not saying that I love this shape, but I do like it better. You can also see that there are tons of colors! As far as I know these are all new, but don't quote me on that. Even if they are not new, but just have a better formula, I'll be happy. But some of them are definitely new.

I think there was even another one or two rows above what is in the picture and if you count, there are 21 different polishes pictured above, so in total there has to be close to 30 colors in the entire display. Nothing really caught my eye enough to actually buy, but I was also way overwhelmed by the amount of colors to look at. I'd probably need a good 20 minutes for this display alone, so I may have to go back and have another go at it lol

Have any of you tried any of these?

New Sally Hansen Salon Effects for Valentine's Day!!

With Valentine's Day approaching faster than I anticipated (I'm seriously behind on all holidays/ fake holidays) I thought I would share the new Sally Hansen Salon Effects for Valentine's Day.

Left to right:
Are You Single?
Speed Dating
How Romantic!
Love Always
Cross My Heart

These were supposed to be available beginning in February, but I have already seen them in stores. I haven't tried the Salon Effects, but a friend of mine uses them all the time and really likes them. I'm also not a big Valentine's Day person, but these are pretty cute. I like Love Always and Are You Single the most.

These retail around $9.99, depending where you buy them.

Look younger not older!

Makeup mistakes that make you look older!

Avoid These:

Heavy concealer under the eyes

You should not have to pack on concealer to hide your dark circles. If you have to put on layers of concealer to hide your dark circles then that's saying you should try another concealer. Getting the right concealer is sometimes hard because each person has a different problem, skin type/shade. Therefore, keep in mind that just because it works on someone else doesn't mean it will work on you.

I will make a separate post in greater detail in order to give you some direction on what to look for.

Lighter foundation

Using a lighter foundation than your natural skin will actually highlight any fine lines and wrinkles you may have. A foundation that has a light reflective formula will actually make your skin look younger and will add that extra glow.

Packing on powder

Powder is great for oily skin or to set your makeup. However, if you have fine lines or wrinkles too much powder will emphasize them especially around the eye. Too much powder will also eliminate that natural glow and shine your skin has, and will then make your skin look dry and older. Try using a translucent powder like Make UP For Ever's HD translucent powder.

If you have oily skin and have to use powder, try using a setting spray after. I absolutely love MAC's Fix spray it really get's rid of that powdery look and makes your skin feel great.

Harsh lip liner and brown lipstick

If you overdo the lip liner you will have a harsh look and you will look older. If you are going to wear lip liner make sure your lips have color too, not just an outline of your lips. Having a darker lip liner than your lip color is a thing of the 80s, so let's move on. Lip liner is not meant to be used as your lip color, it is meant to define your lips and avoid your lip color from bleeding. Instead match your lip liner with your lipstick.

Also , avoid brown colors because they will not compliment you and will also bring out the yellow in your teeth.

New Wet n' Wild Megalast and Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect Color Care Collections!

Last time I was at Harmon's Discount, I noticed some new displays and had to take pictures of them for you guyssss

The first one I saw was this new Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect Color Care collection

The display says "Hides ridges with a breathable, porcelain smooth finish"
- Promotes stronger, healthier looking nails
-Allows 20% more oxygen to reach nails
-Streak free
- Patented formula

So this seems to be boasting a lighter, healthier formula for you nails. The colors are all pastels and neutrals and I'm pretty sure they are all creme finishes. I think they ran around $4-5 a bottle, but I can't really remember.

Then I saw this new Wet n' Wild Megalast collection

The display says "Salon- quality opaque color provides 5 days of long lasting, chip resistant wear."

The first thing I thought of was Sally Hansen Salon Complete Salon Manicure polishes. The bottle shape is pretty similar, but not exactly the same and it seems to advertise the same sort of quality. These are nice bright colors that are great for spring and there were also some neutral shades thrown in. All these polishes also had creme finishes and they are $1.99, wayyyyy cheaper than their Sally Hansen counterparts. My grandma actually picked up two of the shades that I have swatches of below!

Wet n' Wild Megalast in Through the Grapevine, one coat. This is actually a little darker and a little more purple in real life. My camera decided to make everything look lighter that particular day. Anyway, this is a creme purpley-pink color.

Wet n' Wild Megalast in Candy-licious, one coat. This one is actually more bubblegum pink in real life, definitely a little darker and brighter than in the picture.

So the formula on these is AWESOME. Seriously. They were both completely opaque in one coat, which is amazing. The formula is smooth and has great coverage and pigmentation. The brush is a little odd, it's one of those flat, beaver tail like brushes, but not too bad. I think the awesomeness of the formula makes up for it. I'm completely impressed and I'll probably be going back to the store to get a few more of these to see if the formula is this good across the board.

Have any of you seen or tried any of these new collections?
