Origins Ginzing Eye Cream Review

Price: $29

First off, would like to apologize for not posting yesterday, but I had a family emergency. I been meaning to do a review on the Origins Ginzing Eye Cream but always forgot. So this eye cream is suppose to brighten and depuff your eyes. Ginzing has caffeine from coffee bean, Panax Ginseng, Magnolia in order to get rid of those tired eyes.  It is also one of Origins top selling products

The cream is a light pink color and has a tiny sparkles, however  they do not show when you apply it. The sparkles just help reflect light, brightening up your eyes. I first tried this cream as a sample from Sephora and loved it. I have never been that concerned with dark circles or puffiness because I don't get them that bad, even though I rarelyyy get 8 hours of sleep.  But when I applied it for the first  time I saw the difference, my eyes looked very awake and refreshed.

However, one of my concerns was that it would interfere with my makeup but it didn't. My makeup stayed put throughout the day how it normally does. I also had my sister try it because she has a bit of dark circles and a darker complexion than I do, and it also helped reduce her dark circles. I was also very surprised because you need so little of the product.

Another thing I really liked about this eye cream is that it is very gentle and does not irritate your eyes. For some reason the area around my eyes is extremely sensitive but this eye cream does not bother me at all. Other eye creams start burning my skin right away to the point I have to wash it right off and my skin gets really red and fragile for a few days. The area around my eyes is so sensitive that even blending my eyeshadow irritates my eyelid the next day (I'm not heavy handed or use rough brushes). That's why I use natural colors on a daily basis since they require less blending.

Overall, I think this is a great eye cream for younger eyes because if you're older you might need something a bit stronger to reduce the puffiness and dark circles. But if you do have bad dark circles you can try using this cream first and then applying concealer over it, you will get a better result.

Color Club Broken Tokens!!

I've been looking to get silver crackle for a while now but couldn't decide what brand to get. I had wanted OPI, but then more and more options came out and I finally decided on Color Club.

Broken Tokens over two coats of OPI Sanguine. I had forgotten how awesome Sanguine was and I definitely need to find a good dupe or something. But anyway, I love this. It's not sparkly like OPI Silver Shatter, it's more of a metallic foil finish and it is superrr opaque and that's what I love about it. Also, I feel like it cracks more organically than OPI (comparing it o Black Shatter), you can see diagonal cracks and its just much different. Even after I applied a top coat, it kept cracking. It's cool.

Formula was really nice, smooth and easy to apply. It's also very easy to remove, much easier than I expected. Be careful of putting too much on because then It won't crack as much. That's pretty much it. It's just an awesome crackle.

Film Review - Captain America: The First Avenger

So far, so good for The Avengers this summer. Thor’s a pretty cool guy and now it’s Captain America to show off what he’s got. Sure, he comes with the superhero standards – buff body, noble intentions and a sleek costume – but other than that, he’s nothing more than a poster boy for Marvel movies. Steve Rogers makes for a better propaganda symbol than superhero.

Nail Art: Paint Splatter!

This is the final design that I tried! I know I'll be doing at least one more, but that'll be sometime next week.

(not sure why I took it at the angle)

I have a base of OPI Alpine Snow and as usual, my various other colors. You can use any colors you want for this. All you need is a pin or tooth pick. What you do is put a little glob of polish on your nail and then spread it out in a paint splatter type shape with the tooth pick/pin. Make sure you have enough polish so that you'll actually be able to spread it. Very simple, very easy. Anyone can do this and it's really cute. My mom even thought I used a stamp for it!

Winter 2011 Makeup ideas

So sorry for posting this late, but I was busy working on a photoshoot and helping a family friend with a sweet 16.  Maybe I can post a photo once I receive them, but can't promise it since it was a private shoot. But as you can imagine I am drained, therefore, I am doing a quick post.
Below are some of the makeup looks that you should expect for Winter 2011. I know right now you're mind is still on enjoying this summer but still nice to get an idea of what you will be seeing soon.

Feather Hair Extensions!

Obviously these hair feathers have been HUGE lately. I'm not sure who started this trend.. probably Steven Tyler because I love him. Anyway, at first I didn't get it at all, but the more I saw them the more I love them and I am officially sucked in.

These are the feathers that I got. It was a pack of 12 (there are only 9 here because I used 3). It was a bunch of different colors, some solid, some grizzly, and some striped. These are real rooster feathers, natural colors. They come in every color you can imagine and the site I got mine from (link at the bottom) has amazing peacock feathers and pretty much any other feather you can imagine.

These are the tools that you need: a latch hook, micro ring beads and pliers. I bought the beads and latch hook from the same website as the feathers, and I got the pliers from a craft store. I was going to buy a latch hook at the craft store also, but then I decided against because I did not know if the beads would fit on it. Better safe than sorry.

In terms of the beads, there are ones with plastic and silicone. The website only had silicone, which I hear is better because it grips hair better and thats handy for people with thinner hair.

Here I added two feathers

And I added one feather underneath.

So, actually putting the feathers in takes a little bit of practice. Here is a great video:

While on my feather search, I went into a store in my mall that advertised (badly) that they had hair feathers. Imagine my elation when the thought of not paying shipping popped into my mind. On further investigation, this store/salon was charging $12 a feather! Are they nuts?! This included "installation", which you can do yourself! So that went down the drain very quickly. I ended up buying my feathers and supplies from Moonlight Feather. I got priority shipping so I paid a little more to get them faster, but the shipping is so cheap if you're willing to wait a few extra days.

You can also buy everything here, unless its sold out.

Overall, I love them! I was so excited to get them. Once I get a little better at putting them in I might even order some more. They are so diverse and are just awesome! You can even wash, blow dry, flat iron and curl them. Love love love. That's all I have to say.

Top 5 make-up products I can't live without!

Mac Pro Longwear SPF 10 Foundation

$29.50
Shade: NC25
I am naturally a NW 20, but I found I looked too pale, so the NC 25 adds a tiny bit of  color. I was given the NC 25 by mistake at MAC. I ordered a few foundations for my kit, so I guess the guy got this one confused. But I'm glad he did because I like this color better than the NW 20.
This is my favorite foundation, I've been using it since it first came out. This foundation stays on the entire day even on hot summer days. I also love that you don't have to put layers of it to get coverage. It provides a natural finish, leaving your skin looking healthy.
( I will do a post on what the W and C stand for in MAC foundations)

MUD Eye Shadow
 Expresso

Taupe

Shade: Expresso or Taupe
$13.50
refill pan- $10.00 (same size as MAC shadows)

I was introduced to these products while going to MUD school to complete their beauty course. I use either of these eyeshadows to fill in my eyebrows. Taupe can be used on almost everyone, even blondes. You just have to start off with a small amount and build the color until you get the color you want. Expresso is a darker brown, therefore you have to be more careful not to pick up too much color. These products are for professional use therefore, they are veryy pigmented. You can order them online or visit there store in Soho NY or Los Angeles.  I apply it using an angled brush also from MUD (love that brush)!!

L'oreal Collagen Mascara

(not the one with blue on the packaging- I hate that one! This one comes in black packaging)
$7-9
I have mentioned this mascara many times before. This is my favorite mascara because it really provides great results for my eyelashes. Also, it is very affordable especially since I have to buy one almost every 3 weeks because I use it every day and apply many coats.

MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural

Shade: Medium Deep
$27.00

Ever since I bought this I have not stopped using it. I used it as a contour on my cheeks, forehead, and a tiny bit on my nose. This helps add some color to my face without looking exaggerated or orange. Without it now I feel too pale especially now in the summer.

MAC Iridescent Powder/ Loose

$23.00
I loveee this loose powder because I can place it to highlight my cheeks and on my eyes. I use this every day on my cheeks and eyes. After applying the contour and blush, I place a small amount above and over my blush. I also use it on my eyelids when I'm in a rush or lazy and don't out any eyeshadow on. Because it is a almost champagne color and has shimmer in it, it gives your eyes an awake and refreshed look. When I do apply eyeshadow I still use it at the inner corner of my eye to help my eyes look bigger and attract the light.
I recommend this product for everyone! But if you have a warm, tanned, or deep skin tone try the Golden to Bronze shade instead. It is the same product just with bronze shimmer.

Amber Heard gets sexy with a cowboy for Guess

Yesterday, Kate Upton did Guess, today, Amber Heard. But I have mixed feelings when I look at these sexy new photos Amber did. On one hand she looks amazing. On the other, the cowboy in the pics is really interfering with my enjoyment.

I suppose part of it has to do with the fact that I now know that Amber is a lesbian so my mind wants to know why that guy is pawing her. That really should be a cowgirl climbing all over Amber, shouldn’t it? Heck, even if Amber wasn’t a lesbian that’d still be a better theme.

Of course, lesbian cowgirls pretty much make everything better in my book, so I might be biased.

Nail Art: Swirls!

I got tired of the cherry blossoms after about a week and I couldn't handle not peeling them. So after I got my peeling fix, this happened!

When I was around 11, I went somewhere with summer camp and the place had an awesome black wall with silver swirly things and I've always dreamed of recreating it on my walls, but never did. But it served as random inspiration for me,

First I did two coats of Sinful Colors Black on Black, and then I used Revlon Silver Dollar to do the swirls. For the swirls, I used these new nail art brushes that I bought. And as usual, I have a base coat and a top coat. Pretty self explanatory. I think I captured my inspiration and it looked pretty cool.

Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector

Price- $18

I bought this a while back because I had read pretty good reviews about it. I decided to give it a try considering I do have a few enlarged pores on my nose. At the time of purchase I completely forgot this came in three different shades, so I just grabbed one. Later, when I got home I realized I bought it in 02 invisible deep, which is for darker skin tones. I didn't feel like going back to return it so I tried it anyways.

Even though this shade was for darker skin tones, when I applied it and blended it, it completely disappeared. As soon as you apply it you can feel that it has eliminated all the oil on your skin. It gives a matte finish, which is great for oily skin or combination skin. However, I did not notice that it made my pores appear any smaller.

But it does work as a great primer if you want your makeup to last longer since it gives you a matte finish. However, I do recommend to use either a primer or this product, not both! One night that I was going out I decided to put primer and the Clinique Pore Minimizer. Once I applied the foundation it looked too matte, almost like dry skin. I do have combination skin but I do not like having a matte finish because then my skin feels too tight. I only get oily on my t-zone, so using both products made the rest of my face feel really dry to a point that it was very uncomfortable. Therefore, I always try to have a dewy more natural finish. If you have really oily skin then maybe you can use both the primer and Clinique Pore Minimizer.

Overall, this product is great to help control the oil in your skin, however it does not dramatically get rid of your enlarged pores. So if that's what you are looking for, I recommend trying something else.

Nail Art: Cherry blossoms!

So after my minions I went on a nail art kick and I saw a picture of these cute cherry blossom nails, so I had to try it out.

The base is Orly Ancient Jade, two coats. Then I did the branches using a thin brush with Sinful Colors Black on Black. For the petals I used OPI Alpine Snow, and just made dots using a brush, a dotting tool would work but I forgot to look for one at the store. Then I used my unnamed Milani pink for the middle of the flower, and I just used a brush again to dot it on. I did prime each nail with a base coat before hand and then did a coat of Seche on top.

When doing nail art in general, it is easier to do one hand completely and then the other hand. Also, it is best to do it stages, using one color at a time on each nail before moving on to the next color.

I really liked how it came out, and I was pretty proud of myself for being able to do it with my left hand. It's all about practice!

Make Up For Ever- Aqua Eyes Pencil Liner

Make Up For Ever has the Aqua Eyes liner which is suppose to be waterproof, smudge-proof, and fade-proof. They come in 25 different colors, some which are very bright.
Price- $18

When you apply the liner is smooth, so it's very easy to apply and you don't have to tug and pull your eye.  This is a plus since I wear contacts and my eyes tend to dry very quickly if I don't blink for a few seconds.

However, the color isn't as strong as I expected, you have to keep applying it to get a strong black. Also, when I applied it on my waterline, it did disappear and quicker than I expected.

One of my main concerns when I apply eyeliner on my water line is that for some reason it always ends up running to the outer corner of my eye. This is something I still have found no solution to, after trying numerous eye liners and techniques. So when I bought this pencil I thought this would end this problem however, it didn't even when I set it with black eyeshadow. But when you apply eyeshadow over this liner it does last longer than on its own.

Quick Tip: If you want your waterline to last longer than also put eyeliner on the top inner line of your eye. (basically under your eyelashes). This will help a lot because each time you blink both lines will have eyeliner on them. Also, always set your eyeliner with eyeshadow, this helps alottttt!

Wet n' Wild Gray's Anatomy!

A week or so ago my boyfriend sent me a picture of a ratchet he bought and it was super pretty.

And as I was looking at the picture I though to myself, "this would look awesome as nail polish". A few days go by and I am forced to go buy shampoo and conditioner, of course my trips never end there and I wandered into the nail care aisle for cotton rounds and just to look around. While at the Wet n' Wild display, I saw it. Some polish that weirdly reminded me of that ratchet. It had to be fate, so I bought it.

Gray's Anatomy, five coats. It is super super sheer and it really wasn't opaque enough for me until five coats. It took me an hour and I messed up my back from sitting on the floor but it was worth it. It took foreverr because I let every layer dry before I applied another. This is one of their fast dry polishes and I have to say it did dry pretty quickly. I waited about five minutes between each application. It may look a little streaky if you don;t do an even application but it smoothes out a bit as it dries. It's kind of iridescent and duochrome and has a definite frosty finish. As usual I have a base and top coat. I seriously had to take a bajillion pictures in order to get the different colors to show up on camera.

The color changes from an orchid color to a grey green and then a slate color.

This is the only one I took in the sunlight, because for some reason all the duochrome got washed out and it pretty much stayed this lilac, orchid-y color. But you can see how it almost looks like a foil! Which is pretty cool and unexpected.

This is a last minute picture I took. I think you can see the differences in color the best here.

So overall, I really like this shade even though it is not as pigmented as the ratchet. In real life, it is a little more pigmented than in the pictures and it's a little frostier. I think there was a Sally Hansen shade that looked exactly like the ratchet but I'm pretty sure it was discontinued and I can't remember the name. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more shades like this.

Until next time,
The Wicked
